BOX UP CRIME
Inspired in 2012 from the loss of valued friends due to gang affiliation and crime, Stephen Addison launched the project ‘Box Up Crime’ in 2013, a new initiative which provides social change though social innovation. Box Up Crime use sports – in particular boxing, as a tool to inspire, educate and develop young individuals, specifically those who have been involved in crime.
Box Up Crime is an academy aimed at motivating change within a generation, influencing people to transform their dreams into reality!
Box Up Crime’s vision is to operate in every London borough working with young people to help them turn away from the lures of criminal activity and gangs. Restoring Lives work in Partnership with Box Up Crime, to offer our children and young people the opportunity to engage in the Boxing and Mentoring sessions.
The programme enables our young people to channel their energy into something positive – training and discipline. Combining positive reinforcements with the mental clarity that a healthy body can help bring; the vulnerable young people are kept away from gang-related activities.
